The Border Lands - Apparently Borderlands wasn’t always the slick, handsome bastard of a game it is today! As a genius marketing ploy, Gearbox developed a 1986 version of Borderlands and it is FUN (addictive). Now, “Go old skool and play the 1989 16-bit original to see how it all began.”

Borderlands 2 shows off side-by-side graphics of playing the game with a high-end graphics card like Physx, by NVIDIA, and without one.

Whenever I’m playing a game and amazed by the graphics I always say to myself, “What can a next-gen console bring to the mix? I mean, these graphics are as good as it can get.” Then you see something like this with the graphics side-by-side and you realize, “WOW! There is a ton of potential to improve.”

Now I can’t wait to see what potential will be unlocked in the next-gen consoles!

Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer depicting epic naval warfare, new to the Assassin’s Creed series. Complete with firing canons, mines, and exploding boats. I mean what else can there.. Wait!.. Is that the Kraken!?!

Just kidding, would be a great addition though. Get on it Ubisoft!

The new “big-bad,” Handsome Jack, from the upcoming video game Borderlands 2 taunts and insults the newest playable characters in this “Come and Get Me” trailer.

Can’t wait to hear more of the iconic Borderlands dark/sarcastic sense of humor when it comes out September 18th! Is this going to be a midnight-must for me? It’s looking that way!

Assassin’s Creed 3 has been built from the ground up utilizing Ubisoft’s new game engine: Anvil Next. They have had more than two years in production, developing along-side, yet separate from, the two previous Assassin’s games. (Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood & Assassin’s Creed Revelations)

Expect some seriously amazing graphics and animations, dynamic weather that changes between all 4 seasons, and accurate historic detail of at least two well known American cities, Boston & New York, during the American Revolution.

Assassins Creed 3 Boston gameplay demo. Plenty of really interesting new features - There are hay bales in moving carts, and you can assassinate from them. You can take stealth cover behind corners and assassinate from that position. There are stalking zones where you can crouch down and move around in cover. The game is much more contextual, meaning you can rush someone near the edge of a ledge and push them off. Which new way to kill are you most excited about?

E3 gameplay footage from Assassin’s Creed 3 focusing on the open wilderness of the frontier. The frontier is the open landscape where players can explore the new world, discover hidden side missions, and experience a completely new aspect to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, hunting for pelts. Apparently in Assassin’s Creed 3 you can make money by selling pelts you have acquired while hunting in the frontier. Does anyone own a time machine? I need to go a few months into the future because the anticipation is killing me!!

Straight from the E3 2012 conference, this Assassins’ Creed 3 cinematic trailer showcases Connor fighting for liberty by basically taking on the entire Red Coat army by himself. It is rated the most anticipated game of 2012 and I have to agree. Everything seems so realistic, if I didn’t know any better I would ask when this “movie” was coming out!

Assassin’s Creed 3 announcement trailer. Our first glimpse into the widely anticipated “true” third chapter of the Assassin’s Creed series. I would say “final chapter,” but hopefully this isn’t the last one. Although, with 2+ years in the making, it would be an exciting ending to the series.

First insights into the new enemies in Borderlands 2. Looks like enemies are going to respond to being shot in certain areas (Ex: If you shoot them in the leg a bunch, they will start to limp or lose their leg completely), and the enemies are going to be much smarter in the way they fight back. There is definitely going to be all kinds of different new enemies, and you’ll see a few variations in the video.

“Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.”

Truly one of the most intriguing stories in a video game, Assassin’s Creed is a masterpiece. Each game in the series features different historically accurate ancient cities, such as Venice, Rome, Constantinople, etc, designed with input from real historians and blueprints of historic buildings. The storyline is heavily focused on culture and religion, but it is not condemning or demeaning to one or another. All of the games were developed by a multi-culutral team with many beliefs.

The main storyline, that spans all of the games, takes place in the year 2012. Desmond, an everyday man working as a bartender, is kidnapped and strapped into a machine, called the Animus. Throughout the series the Animus forces Desmond to relive his “past lives,” some of which are part of a secret order called the Assassins. Desmond’s captors are hoping to find an ancient artifact his Assassin ancestors may have hidden.

The Assassins are in a constant struggle against a secret, controlling, corrupt organization that should be vaguely familiar, the Templars. The main difference between these two powerful secret societies is in their beliefs. The Templars believe that they can improve and save the world by controlling it. The Assassins believe they can save the world by giving people freedom and letting them make decisions for themselves. One of the most interesting debates about the game is whether the Assassins are truly good or not. They live in shades of grey. Although they support freedom, the Assassins kill to enforce their beliefs.

The Assassin’s Creed games take place over many centuries. The first is during the crusades, the second in the midst of the Italian Renaissance (with two other full games expanding on the story of the Italian Assassin Ezio), and the third and final game, coming out October 2012, takes place during the American Revolution. As a fun little extra, every unique character you kill in the series was an actual person that lived during that time and died in that place. Just probably not in the same manner.

Let me leave you with a quote from the first Assassin’s Creed. Hopefully it will open your mind to all the thought-provoking sequences within the game.
